Facial Fat Grafting

Aging causes a loss of fullness in the face and body, causing wrinkles and a sunken appearance. This makes many people look older than they really are. While injectable fillers are often used to replace lost volume in the face, fat grafting is often a better option when more significant volume enhancement is required. Fat grafting, also known as fat transfer, is a cosmetic procedure in which fat is removed from one area of the patient’s body and injected into another to restore volume and youth. Dr. Weiss offers fat grafting for men and women of all ages in the Greater New Orleans and Metairie area.

Excess fat is typically removed from a patient’s thighs, buttocks and abdomen. The fat is then processed and purified and then carefully re-injected into common targets such as laugh lines, marionette lines, frown lines, hollows under the eyes, crow’s feet, lips, wrinkles in the forehead and cheeks. Dr. Weiss has also used fat grafting to correct depressions and scars from acne.

Fat grafting provides a longer lasting result than other absorbable fillers, without the risk of foreign body reaction.
